Leading light of British Boxing Frank Warren is set to unveil his youngest professional yet with the arrival of George Michael Carmen, who fights on the undercard of Kevin Mitchell’s next fight.
The 18 year old will make his professional debut as a welterweight, but if he follows in his fathers footsteps, might eventually end up in the higher weights.
“I’m very excited as I’ve always wanted to box on a big show. To have my first professional fight on one is a big thing. I grew up watching Lennox Lewis but I take a lot of inspiration from Joe Calzaghe as I think his style of boxing is very similar to mine – knowing that Joe got there and did it all with that style is very exciting for me. My style is not exactly the same but hopefully it can get me all the way,” Source: Boxing Scene
Carmen has a good pedigree from the amateur scene, and follows in the footsteps of his father who was also a professional fighter.
Warren, who split from prospect Amir Khan earlier this week will no doubt be looking to get back on the horse with this latest talent and quickly build him into a champion.
