Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are still the biggest names in boxing today, and a fight between the two is still what nearly all of the fans want. In amongst all the usual bluster and bravado from both camps, it looks like the fight might be renegotiated later on in the year, when both parties have sufficient time to talk through their differences without a time limit.
But other than the fact that both fighters will probably have another win on their respective records, will anything have actually changed between now and later on in the year when the fight begins to get talked about in earnest again?
Since the steroid drama and subsequent testing demands from Mayweather (which he is now apparently insisting on for all future opponents) don’t look like going away anytime soon, the only other option would be that Pacquiao might agree to the extra testing. On the other hand though, Pacquiao now has another ace in the hole which he can counter Floyd’s testing demands with, a change of venue.
It came to light recently that Mayweather uses a variety of hand numbing injected drugs such as Xylocaine, which are banned in all of the United States apart from Nevada, which goes some way to explain why Floyd is always so adamant about fighting in Las Vegas, even when bigger and better venues are on offer.
During the next set of negotiations Pacquiao could agree to the extra testing but insist that in return he chooses the location, and pic somewhere outside Nevada. Floyds own use of what is quintessentially a performance enhancing drug would then be prevented, effectively leveling the playing field by putting both at a disadvantage. Manny might have a sore arm leading up to the fight, but equally Floyd’s notoriously brittle hands would mean his punching power would be lessened, and his work rate might also suffer.
In terms of other leverage such as purse split, claim to being the best pound for pound fighter etc, nothing much will probably have changed. The only significant difference might come if Mayweather chooses a much lower level opponent than Joshua Clottey and struggles, which would loser his stock somewhat, but other than that, all things will be more or less the same as the last time out.
The two compromises then appear to be that Manny take the extra tests and Floyd is denied the use of his pain killers by the fight being held outside Nevada. The other alternative is for the fight to be held in Vegas but for Floyd to drop the extra testing issue once and for all. Which if either will happen will have to remain to be seen for now, but the fight will almost certainly be negotiated again, even if that is as far as it goes.

Manny… ok people i always through of manny as a roberto duran… but after this and tons of thinking and watching old videos u have to admit he is on something. How come he grows bigger and bigger not looking fat? I mean he moved what 7 divisions? and he looks like he can go up what 2 more? dont be stupid really have u ever tried to be in a gym? work ur body?Things are not like that ur body is one way and u can work it but it will no grow like that. And he dint accept because the drug test could be even 24hours before the fight and he could and is gonna be catch in some momment.If he really were that great he would have taken the test and beat Mayweather. If you look at the facts all your arguments just fall apart.
This was a contract negotiation and Mayweather had only one request i.e. that both fighters undergo random blood tests. This request was there from the begining, it’s not something that came up later.
After Mayweather agrees to all of Pacquiao’s demands, including a $10 million per pound over contract weight of 147 pounds clause, suddenly they find out that Pacquiao has a problem with random blood tests. And suddenly it becomes an NSAC issue? Are you joking?
I have never seen anybody try so hard to avoid a random blood test. Walking away from $40 million…cut-off dates. It’s just embarrassing.

I really don’t care if this fight happens in future or not.
Initially, i thought the guy was just a good fighter but the way he ran away from a fight with Mayweather just because of a simple blood test has raised a lot of questions. Questions that will never go away.
Why all the disdain for mayweather. Give the devil his due he beat marquez by boxing him and executing his style and game plan. Is it his fault that marquez couldnt catch him. He is a defensive fighter and he didnt want to be hit…who does! He doesnt have to risk getting hit like pac man does to win the fight so why should he. All those hating on mayweather remember he beat the last person that gave pacman hell TWICE. Obviously I like mayweather for the fight and it will be good but why disparage him for being himself. Yeah he talks alot of trash but somebody has to be the bad guy. most people want to see him get knocked out so all you haters are giving him what he wants. And fair is fair why doesnt pac man just take the damn test. Because he scared of needles but gets punched in the face for a living
let gayweather fight in bantamweight division..that is a sure win for him..

Mayweather v Mosely will happen and be fought under USADA random PED testing and it will do better numbers than the Pac v Clottey fight becasue of the 2 guys in the ring. That scenario is a very real possibility and while Pacquiao is innocent of PED’s until tested positive he really will not have any leverage to deny the tests after that. Whatever Mayweather’s motives were in the beginning are irrelevant; the issue is now much larger. Current PED testing in boxing is a joke, the experts say so not Freddie Roach or GBP (read Mayo). The NSAC has to evaluate how they will answer the question of “are they entertainers or are they athletes?” because frankly nobody cares if wrestlers are dopers.
IMO Pacquiao loses the most in this exchange until he agrees to the testing and beats the winner of Mos v May next fall. Then he will be vindicated. (FMJ is no lock to beat Mosely) This could still be a great year at 147!!

manny pacquiao is a gentleman outside the ring. soft spoken, humble and very accomodating. inside the ring he transforms and becomes this animal who will slaughter you, kill or be killed, make no mistake about it. see the cotto fight. the disdain when cotto started running. i can understand floyd not wanting to fight him but please just shut your mouth.
anyone who has a brain know the truth. floyd avoided manny with all those baseless accusations, no shred of evidence whatsoever. it was all made up. what is ironic is floyd is actually the one who uses preformance enhancing drugs. where is the indignation in that? hypocrites is the word that comes to mind.

Manny has no history of cheating his opponent nor cherry picking. He fights the best in his division as he move up. He gets the respect from his opponent and from his fans because he always give a good show everytime he fights. He was once the most exciting fighter before he becames number one pound for pound. He is the only one in boxing history who captures seven titles in seven division. He is a God fearing person and fights for the pride of his country with so much generosity he gaves back such as numerous charities. Manny Pacquaio is a gentle man outside the ring but an animal inside the ring.
Now compare it to Floyd Mayweather Jr history and records. He is very well known who cherry pick his opponent and avoiding the best in the division that will be offer. He does not excite the fans when he fights because of his hit and run style and does not want to exchange punches or to fight toe to toe. Some fans calls it a boring fight or snooze feast every time he fights. He’s attitude outside the ring contradicts on his style inside the ring because he always trash talk to his opponents and yet inside the ring he always run. Floyd Mayweather has a dysfunctional family and a family of criminals with his father as an exconvict for drug dealing and sentence in prison for five years while his uncle has a court battle for beating up a woman. Floyd Mayweather has several cases also of beating up a woman, kick the head of the body guard in the bar and involve in the shooting in skating rink. About Mayweathers camp that they want to have a olympic style drug testing to have a fair playing field while he did not respect the agreed weight when he fight with Marquez and exceed to 2 pounds during the weigh in. Manny Pacquiao imposed the $10 million penalty for every pound exceed so that Mayweather will respect the welter weight limit which is 147 pound. Mayweather has already all the advantage since he is a naturally bigger and has a 5 inches reach difference and he is fighting in his comfort zone. Who is this guy who has a criminal record that accuses Manny Pacquaio of using steroids and never been tested positive by NSAC on his entire career. Who is this guy who want to out ruled the commission which has been existed since boxing legends such as Sugar Ray Robinson, Ali, Leonard and Duran.
