According to Paul Filho’s management, the troubled Brazilian fighter will take on Japanese legend Kazushi Sakuraba at an upcoming Bitetti combat event.
It seems a little fishy to me that a regional Brazilian outfit could afford Sakuraba, but the fight has yet to be confirmed by anyone from hsi camp yet.
Filho was ranked in the top 5 in the world at middleweight few years ago, but drug, depression and weight problems saw him fall out of the rankings altogether and start to take extended inactive periods.
Eventually he lost his WEC title in an uninspiring rematch against Chael Sonnen and was cut from the Zuffa roster.
More recently Filho has gotten over the worst of his problems and is now looking to climb the rankings once again.
