In recent comments about his upcoming fight against Miguel Cotto, Yuri Foreman has strongly implied that he thinks Manny Pacquiao is scared of facing him.
Apparently Pacquiao and his team were concerned with the height and weight difference that Foreman would pose when looking at him as a possible future opponent. The fight was eventually dismissed and Joshua Clottey was chosen instead.
Foreman claims that Clottey will probably be heavier than him come fight time, and that Oscar De La Hoya is the same height. It seems odd though that Pacquiao would be scared of him when he was happy to fight De La Hoya and of course Clottey.
Most resources have De La Hoya listed as 5,10, and he doesn’t have as big of a reach as Foreman either. Foreman by contrast is rangy and uses his length and reach to keep opponents at bay rather than coming forward. Something the much shorter Pacquiao would no doubt find difficult to negate. All things being equal (If Pacquiao were 5,11 as well) few would give Foreman a chance.
Clottey being the same weight at fight time seems a little off to me as well. Clottey does cut a fair bit of weight to make the welterweight limit, and re-hydrated probably has a few pounds on Pacquiao, but he’s still not as big as most super welterweights.
Foreman doesn’t cut that much weight in most of his fights, but if he were to go up against Pacquiao would surely pack on all the weight he could and be much bigger than Clottey could ever dream of being.
Besides anything else, Pacquiao isn’t another light middleweight that should be fighting Foreman, hes realistically small at welterweight and there’s a limit as to what he can put on in weight and maintain his speed and power before becoming too bulky and musclebound.
If the most Foreman can say is that he isn’t as big as people think, while fighting Manny’s most recent victim, then he doesn’t really have much grounds to say he isn’t surprised Pacquiao isn’t fighting him.
Speaking to BoxingScene, Foreman said:
“When the whole Mayweather thing was going on, Freddie Roach said we want to fight Yuri. But then when it comes up, they really don’t want to fight. I’m 5′11 and Oscar De La Hoya is 5′11. The same dimensions. And if they are worried about my weight, Clottey who is going to fight Pacquiao, will probably be much heavier than me when he comes to fight Pacquiao,”
Foreman isn’t one to typically trash talk other fighters or call them out, and this might just be a case of trying to build up a fight against Cotto, who Pacquiao mauled without much difficulty.
If he wins though a fight between himself and Pacquiao might gain some interest and assuming other fights for Manny can’t be made, he and his title might be in Pacquiao’s sights.
Until then though, Foreman needs to get past Miguel Cotto before he makes comments about a 7 weight champion like Pacquiao.

Yuri.., Manny is giving you due respect. Your height is not the reason why he denied your application for the Pacquiao jackpot. Your weight and bigger size is also not a problem for him. He is proven to be a giant killer and you are easily one among them. You’re still way way down below his level. Try to defeat Cotto and maybe you can be spotted by his radar.. next.

Yuri, you should be thankful to Manny for citing your height and reach advantages as the reasons why he does not want to fight you.
Yo would be hurt if he spoke the true reasons, which are:
(1) You are way below his skill level. You are too slow and very easy for him to kock out. Knocking you out in the early rounds might have the same result that Ricky Hatton had, except that you have just started to get on the rise….you will experience the great fall so early in your profession.
(2) His PPV attraction will be adversely affected by your name – you are not PPV attraction, and such will only diminish his negotiation leverage should a fight with Mayweather resurface.
Better raise you level and then call him out.

Foreman should remember though that he is in a different level than that of Pacquiao. He fight in a Light Middleweight division while Pacquiao is fighting in a Welterweight division.
Otherwise, Yuri does so because what he foresighted as a Big Payday gone puff when Pacquiao decided to fight Clottey instead.
It is to my opinion though that MANNY PACQUIAO is not afraid of YURI FOREMAN.

the real reason is…
it’s nothing about the reach & height advantage of Foreman… its simply becoz fighting with Foreman at 154lbs can give extra bargaining chips on Mayweather camp inorder that Manny could fight him at 154… its obviious that Pacman’s camp is still considering a mega fight with Mayweather… and that should be in 147lbs… that’s why a Clottey fight happen..
My conclusion to team pacman of not having the fight against yuri is the issues of PED, since this issue still fresh Team pac is avoiding the probable situation that might refuel the baseless accusation against pacquiao after the fight …come to think of it…yuri is a massive and tall fighter (but sluggish) ..if pacman destroy this guy and steals the belt for 8 world title .. gayweather chicken family and other pathetic envious people will come up again and say …see I told you he is wearing bullet proof undetected drugs he is truly and cheater!!! No human can do that!……. How envious u are coz u aint no style and guts to prey and to kill get ur shoes and find a way home and check if theres a chicken inside ur fridge damn ass!!!

Yuri you’re not a PPV draw and not a bankable star that may have effect on the ticket sales and PPV buys come fight night with money should he selected you as his opponent.

Dont worry Yuri after setting a KO in Clottey’s record and after 1 more fight @147 lbs, he’ll challenge you in that division and HE WILL-HE WILL capture that title your holding better defend it. And that time will surely come, so be patient and just watch and wait.
Foreman is just trash talking to get the attention of Pacman because fighting him is a big payday. But I would like to advise you mr Rabbi to be. Be ready first to cotto he will surely spoil your chance.
